APS is proud to share a remarkable achievement that has created history in India’s renewable energy journey. Maharashtra has officially entered the Guinness World Records for installing 45,911 solar agricultural pumps in just one month under the visionary Magel Tyala Solar Krishi Pump Scheme.
The prestigious record was formally acknowledged when Hon. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis accepted the Guinness World Records certificate on behalf of the state government. This milestone reflects Maharashtra’s strong commitment to empowering farmers and advancing clean energy adoption across rural landscapes.
A Vision Born from Farmers’ Challenges
During the years 2014 to 2019, Maharashtra faced severe drought conditions. Understanding the immense difficulties of farmers, the government recognised that the biggest challenges were water availability and electricity access. Farmers were struggling with inconsistent day and night power supply, leading to a collective demand for 12 hours of reliable daytime electricity.
This need became the foundation for innovative planning, ultimately leading to the creation and execution of large-scale solar pump schemes—designed to provide sustainable, long-term solutions for the agricultural sector. Today, the Guinness World Record stands as proof of the state’s dedication to its farmers.
